Managing Director - Opportunity

Our client – a highly successful garment manufacturer based in West Yorkshire – is seeking to appoint a Managing Director to help steer the next stage of growth.

The business designs, manufactures, imports, and distributes a wide range of ladies lingerie as well as men’s and childrens underwear and nightwear and is a leading supplier in this sector to many well-known retail chains. The company was started by its present owners 9 years ago and has grown to an annual turnover of C£11m today but operates with a small team.

They wish to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified individual not only to manage the day-to-day leaving them more free to explore other growth opportunities, but also to have a significant input to and impact on expansion strategy. This could mean product/market diversification, ‘own brand’ development or strategic acquisition.

The ideal candidate will have held a senior management position previously in the SME sector and both making and standing by decisions. Someone who has worked across a number of disciplines – logistics, sales, business development, retail, etc.- as it is unlikely that most ‘specialists’ would feel comfortable in such an environment.

A team player who is also able to make his/her mark individually and work at all levels effectively and has sufficient flair and vision to both see and evaluate future opportunity for the business.

Some background in apparel would be a bonus rather than essential but experience of designed/manufactured consumer goods, distribution, retail or brand-development would be essential.

The company is offering a flexible and negotiable package commensurate with experience and future equity participation may also be on the table.
